The word ‘enigma’ best describes Blaqbonez. He is difficult to explain; he is confident, intelligent, versatile, and talented, but he will tell you himself that he is also crazy.
“The inspiration is my personality, my life. I’m a crazy person, my mind works in crazy ways. It’s worked out well so far, I would say. I get a lot of love. I’m just a crazy person and I’ve embraced my madness” the rapper says in an interview with the Guardian.
The word ‘crazy’ is apt because some of the things he has done on his path to stardom are pretty unconventional and not normally seen in the Nigerian Music Industry or in any industry for that matter. He’s young, full of energy and filled with creativity that spews out at any given moment.
He’s tapped into the power of social media to promote his artistry and he seems to have mastered it. He just does things that you wouldn’t see artists normally do; in 2019 he hit the streets of Lagos, Nigeria with a megaphone promoting his new song and telling every passer-by that he is the best rapper in Africa.

The 25-year-old is signed to Chocolate City, one of the biggest record labels in Nigeria and in Africa. His music has constantly evolved over the years, he started off as more of a battle rapper but now he raps, sings, and does everything in-between. He has experimented and worked hard on himself and his artistry, and developed well as an artist.
“My new album is me just preaching against what society considers the norm. I’m basically being a rebel and I feel like there are people out there that relate to what I’m saying.” He also says that monogamy for him is unrealistic. “I can get married, but everybody has to know that I cannot be exclusive.”
“I think the lockdown brought out the star or the creative genius inside me. Just being at home, not doing anything made me realize how much power social media has and how talented I am at creating and dominating,”

What you see is what you get with Blaqbonez, he is open and honest and with his new album, ‘Sex Over Love’, in which expresses his thoughts on sex and love while showing off his versatility and personality in the music. The result is simply just vibes, the 14-track project might just be Blaqbonez’s best project to date, and makes for one of the best projects out of Nigeria this year. The lead single off the album basically sets the tone, it features Ghanian starlet Amaarae and spaceship entertainment’s latest signee, Buju.
