Two Kenyan Pilots Gain Heroic Status After Landing Planes Amid Storm Eunice

Two Kenya Airways pilots, Ruth Karauri and Clive Nyachieo, have positively hugged the spotlight after they successfully landed planes amid Storm Eunice in Europe.

Captain Karauri on Friday skillfully landed a Boeing 787 at London’s Heathrow airport together with First Officer, Ayoob Harunany.

A video of their landing amid the storm was documented by a live streaming service. The video of the landing and a later explainer video that praised Kenya Airways for tutoring her on navigating planes in such circumstances warmed many hearts in Kenya and showered on her overwhelming praise.

Nyachieo was also hailed for landing safely at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport amid extreme weather conditions.

Reacting to the bravery of its pilots, Kenya Airways in a tweet described the pilots as the pride of Africa and hailed its years of training the pilots.

Kenya’s Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge in his reaction tweeted, “#StormEunice also affected a large part of Europe and Capt Clive Nyachieo did an outstanding job landing the 787 at Amsterdam. Congrats!”.
