Traci Braxton Loses Her Battle With Cancer at 50

Popular American singer, actor, and reality TV personality, Traci Braxton has passed away at the age of 50.

The news was revealed by her family in a statement made available to NBC News on Saturday, March 12.

According to the statement by her husband Kevin Surratt, Traci, the sister of Toni and Tamar Braxton died after fighting cancer in the oesophagus.

“We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatment for esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory,” her husband said in a statement to NBC News.

Toni also announced the loss of her sister on her verified Instagram page on Saturday. She shared a monochrome image of the deceased and described her as an angel.

“It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci,” she wrote. “Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly.”

“Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake. We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life,” the “Un-Break My Heart” singer added. “We are family forever.”

Traci released her debut album, Crash and Burn, in October 2014. She had a hit single Last Call which peaked at number 16 on the US R&B Adult chart.
