Nigerian Women Speak Out Against Prejudice With “NobodyLikeWoman” Movement

Nigerian women join the “NobodyLikeWoman” challenge

Nigerian women are aggregating their voices and making use of social media to restate their importance.

The women, armed with the hashtag “NobodyLikeWoman,” have been taking to their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook spaces to upload their photos and express grievances against prejudice.

The hashtag, which has gathered over 5,000 posts on Instagram and more thousands on other social media platforms, have been adopted by both celebrities and the every day user of the internet.

The women share a photo of themselves and write on it a short caption of the prejudice they face. “Oh well!!! I ain’t got anything to prove to anyone,” a plus-sized fitness enthusiast, wrote in one of the many thousands of posts fueling the movement.

Singer Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, better known by her stage name Simi, started the movement in what many believe is a prelude to her next single or album.

Simi herself has gained a reputation for being a women’s rights fighter despite numerous face-offs for her beliefs.

Other celebrities who have joined the movement include award-winning actress Adesua Etomi, Temi Otedola, Etinosa Idemudia, Tonto Dikeh, Anita Asuoha (Warri Pikin).
