Ghanaian Wonderkid Felix Afena-Gyan Gifted €800 Boots by Coach Jose Mourinho

Ghanaian starlet Felix Afena-Gyan has received a new pair of ‘really expensive’ boots as promised by Roma’s head coach Jose Mourinho after a scintillating performance for the Italian football club.

Mourinho had promised Afena-Gyan a new pair of boots if he scored for Roma.

The 18-year-old wonderkid bagged a sensational brace as he came off the bench in the 75th minute to guide Roma to a 2-0 win over Genoa.

The match was just his third Series A appearance and after the goals; he ran towards Mourinho to remind him of the deal.

“I had promised to buy Felix the shoes he really likes, which are really expensive, they cost €800, as he ran over and told me not to forget! Tomorrow morning, the first thing I do is buy him the boots,” Mourinho said after the match.

On Monday morning, the former Chelsea coach fulfilled his promise as he purchased for Afena-Gyan the Balenciaga boots.

Mourinho, who praised Afena-Gyan’s mentality also announced that the youngster will train with the first team after an earlier promotion from the youth team in January.

“I am sorry for Mister De Rossi and the Primavera squad, but Felix will stay with us. The Primavera work close to us, so Felix and another four or five players have come across to the senior squad,” added Mourinho.

“You get these kids now who think they know everything, but he is humble and you can sense he just absorbs all this information from everyone around him. That’s fantastic.

“What impressed me the most was his cool head in front of goal. If he is not in terms of technique fantastic, he does have a strong mentality.”
