ENTRY GUIDELINES 

 

As a company, Amplify Africa is dedicated to amplifying voices in Africa and the Diaspora and is constantly seeking ways to represent Blackness around the world. Amplify Africa video contest is a way to celebrate our unique qualities while recognizing the similarities that exist between African Americans, Afro Caribbeans, Africans on the continent, and those who make up the international Black collective.

 

Amplify Africa  wants to see YOUR creative side through this video contest. We are asking you to  create a short video  

(30 seconds - 1 minute in length) based on a subject that unites or connects Africa and the African Diaspora (NEW GUIDELINE) OR a short video that showcases how YOU bridge the gap between the continent and the African diaspora. The winning vote will be based on originality, so think outside the box!

 

General
  • Only one video submission is permissible per person

  • To submit, post your video on Instagram, tag @amplifyafrica and use both hashtags #AmplifyTheDiaspora and #AmplifyAfrica

  • Your video must be posted no later than Friday March 5th, 2021 at 11:59pm PST (NEW DEADLINE)

  • Prize money will be awarded to the person who post the video

 

Video Production 

  • Videos must be at least 30 seconds in length and should not exceed 1 minute in length

 

Content

  • Video must address the contest theme of “Bridging the Gap between Africa and the Black Diaspora.”

  • Must be original content authored, composed, and performed for this contest

  • Must be appropriate for all audiences

 

 
JUDGING CRITERIA

 

Content

  • Did the video address the theme of the contest?

  • Was the information clear and well expressed?

 

Creativity

  • Did the message provide a unique perspective? (Creativity of idea)

  • Did the video production display innovative use of design, materials and ideas? (Creativity of total product)

 

Overall effectiveness of delivery

  • Was there a stand out message that was clearly communicated?

  • How engaging was the message?

  • Is the viewer compelled to keep watching?

 

 

SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY

 

  1. To submit a video you must be following @amplifyafrica on Instagram 

  2. For your video entry to be considered in the contest, you must post on your Instagram page (make sure your page is public), tag @amplifyafrica and use both hashtags #AmplifyTheDiaspora and #AmplifyAfrica 

  3. The deadline for entry is FRIDAY MARCH 5TH, 2021 at 11:59pm PST (NEW DEADLINE)

  4. The Amplify Africa team will select our Top Ten videos which will then be posted on our website and Instagram and public voting for the winners will take place between Monday March 8th - Thursday March 11th 2021.

PRIZES

 

On Friday MARCH 12th, 2021, the winners will be announced on Amplify Africa’s IG page. The $5,000 will be distributed in the following manner:

 

First place:         $2,000

Second place:    $1,500

Third place:        $1,000

Fourth place:        $500

REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES

 

By entering this contest, you represent and warrant that the video entry complies with the Contest Rules and Entry Guidelines, and that:

 

  1. You own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to reproduce, distribute and publicly perform works of authorship or other content, including music, and images or likeness of any person, contained in your video entry, and you have the right under all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights to grant to Amplify Africa the licenses described in Section 6;

  2. Your video entry complies with the Instagram Terms of Use;

  3. At the time of your entry or any time thereafter, your video entry does not contravene any contractual, legal or other obligation;

  4. At the time of your entry or any time thereafter, your video entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party;

  5. Your video does not contain any profane, pornographic, obscene, or defamatory materials;

  6. Use of the video by Amplify Africa will not infringe any copyrights, rights of publicity or any other rights of any person, living or dead. The video and materials used are not subject to any prior agreements that would limit the scope of the permission granted to Amplify Africa under the Rules; and 

  7. You have complied with all relevant laws, rules, and regulations in the production of your video entry 

  8. By submitting an entry for this contest you understand that ownership of the underlying intellectual property of the video remains with the entrant, with the following exceptions:

    1. Entrants grant Amplify Africa the right to use their names, photographs, statements, quotes, and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without notification or compensation
